My Real Life

I'm linking up with 5 Minute Friday with Gypsy Mama.

In Real Life:

In real life I'm a stay-at-home mom, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, friend.
In my dreams I'm organized, clean, frugal, well dressed, always prepared, holding to a tight schedule.
In my dreams I'm a super mom. The one who wakes up at 5:30 am to fix breakfast, get a shower and dressed for the day, do quick clean up around the house and have my quiet time before the kids wake up. But that's my dreams.  :)

Real life is messy.  In real life if I wake up at 5:30, so do my kids. If I try to clean up, my kids follow with their toys. As I fix breakfast they're standing there screaming that they're hungry.  If I try to take a shower and my husband isn't home, don't even get me started, that's a post all by itself. As I do the dishes, they're pulling out a mess in the living room or arguing. As I try to type for 5 minute Friday I pause the timer twice because of a diaper change and my son "fixing" the DVD player.

Yeah, real life is MESSY but I serve a Real Big GOD and I know that He is in the small exhausting moments. I know that when these small exhausting moments are overwhelming He needs me most to remain calm and to teach (3rd pause right here) them the love of Christ. To teach them how to be "salt and light". In my calmness I display the love of Christ. It's 9:30 am and I'm already, ready for a nap.

  2. I feel like you've been watching through my window! It's good to know that we're not alone in the daily battle and that we serve the same Great God that makes it His business to clean up our messes! Blessings, have a wonderful weekend Melissa :)

  3. Oh my, I'm laughing over here. I mean, seriously, has anyone ever met these super-moms that everyone always dreams of being? Real life mommyhood is insanely difficult - 5 minutes of babysitting is always enough to remind me of that. But what an awesome and beautiful responsibility that God has entrusted you with =)

I don't care what anyone says, LOVE makes for a much more awesome Mommy than a clean house and freshly washed hair.

  4. I remember the days when the children were young. When I felt like all I did was say "no" over and over. I loved reading this in the "real life time" it was written.

  5. Lindsay - That cracks me up :)
Heidi - I'm so glad you identify. I was actually concerned that I was the only one that has been in the business for four years and I have yet to have it nailed down to a science.

Paula - You're just precious! Thank you! No definitely not super mom.

Pamela- haha, I was cracking up. In the "Real Life Time" I had 5 mins, 3 interruptions I could not put off and a whole host of "Are you Kidding Me"'s! :) Wow, what a morning :)
