Just Want to be Used

My prayer for months has been, "Lord, I just want to be used by You! Make me Your beautiful hands and feet. Give me opportunities to spread your Truth..."

My biggest problem has been trying to understand.  Because the stories I hear are of people sharing the Gospel and having a Crazy outcome.
Such as "Suzy said the name Jesus at the drug store the other day and 200 people came to know the Lord."  Whaaaat?!?!?!
I don't often hear the everyday, common stories. :)

I have distant friends who have been baptizing 2000 people on Sunday's, having 6000 people come to the Lord over a weekend. That's crazy awesome and I can't help but pray, "Lord am I doing something wrong? What am I missing?  Do I not know You or Your power the way that I should?  Am I not using every opportunity that you place infront of me to spread the gospel?"

So along with praying to be used, I have been praying for understanding. (James 1:5) Here's what I've got and it's kinda cool.  (Matthew 13)

I've been called to share the Good News, not to save people.  Salvation is of God, He does it, not me - I've always known this but never put it into perspective alongside Matthew 13.

You see, my desire is to be used by God, whether I see the fruit or not; my goal is to be used at EVERY opportunity HE places before me.  Being used is in every aspect of the sower parable.  My job is to pray for opportunities to sow the seed. The seed may be planted by me and watered by another.  I may not see it's fruit, I do it and surrender it to God!

In no way do I desire fame, or for others to tell of my story! That's the scariest thought to me. For someone to see God do something through me and for them to say -"Oh you should see what Melissa's doing." That's CRAZY!  If you knew me, without Christ in me, it would be laughable to consider "Oh look what she's doing"  I pray so hard against that.  I want to be HIS hands and feet- never mine!

The thing is, GOD is working so loudly and profoundly in my heart. HE has made me a new creation, HE is my 1st love.  For someone to tell me, "Oh I'm so proud of you" is repulsive to me and breaks my heart. My heart screams, "Do you not see it? How do you not see HIM?"  My life is NOT a reflection of me! I pray so hard that it is a LOUD reflection of Christ in me!  I want others to see this life and see HIM!

People used to get on "Melissa's" nerves, but Christ in me causes my heart ache over others. A love that is almost unbearable for people I don't even know!

How do I know the "Love of Christ"?  Because when I pray to love others with His love He fills me with a Supernatural Love, a love that does not have to be earned nor maintained - it just is!

How do I know that GOD wouldn't treat sinners the way that most church people do?  Because when I pray for the Lord to give me HIS eyes to view others HE Does and it brings me to my knees with compassion over the Lost! It fills me to the brim with a broken heart over a brother or sister in sin.

How do I know that God wants not only our good attributes but the ones that I would be too ashamed of to even share with my husband? Because I handed it ALL over to Christ, I have surrendered ALL of it to Christ and HE is making me a New Creation!

How do I know that the Lord hears our prayers? Because I've been praying to be used for months and HE has been filling my stay-at-home mommy life with Divine Opportunities!

(P.S. Stay-at-Home mommy is far from used as a derogatory comment towards this wonderful gift of GOD - to be able to stay home.  It is acknowledging that I used to consider it an obstacle that would keep me from sharing the gospel.  You see the Lord is Sovereign over our circumstances.  He's called us to be Fishers of Men, we can't allow our circumstances to be a cop-out for not fulfilling the Great Commission! )

Jehovah-Jireh - {Give-Away}

Jesus Rocks my socks off! Do you recognize when the Lord's providing? Do you now rejoice when you see the Lord say- I knew this and you didn't, but I'm providing? Miracles do still happen.

Last week I was at the beach with my family. My husband gave me a budget to stay within. The last day I had to run to the store and grab diapers and, amongst all the chaos at the house, I was able to pull Jax away and spend one-on-one time with him.

When we were standing in the check-out line, as I was unloading my few items, the lady behind me noticed that Jaxson was doing the "Potty Dance".

So I left my stuff there, thanked her and rushed to the bathroom. When I came back I grabbed the bag of items from beside the cashier and returned to the line. While standing there I looked into the bag and noticed the receipt. Blown away, I asked the clerk and she said, "Yeah, that lady paid for it."

When I got back outside I knew in my heart that this was a blessing, all things happen for a reason - what happened?  What's wrong. So I called my husband, and asked him to check out the bank account. He was really busy but after a little pushing he checked it out and sure enough, we had a surprise bill!

Wow, Thank you Lord!

It would have been a little scary but I knew the Lord drew our attention to it for a reason. He was going to make a way.

What's cool about pursuing a life in Christ is knowing, "God's got this." I could be sitting here rocking in the fetal position, because I'm still not sure how it's all going to work out, but truly, my God is the owner of streets of gold.

Even if worst came to worst.
(and I truly don't think it will but I'm saying for the point of argument.)

How dare I bless Him in my ease and curse Him in my trials. My God is God!  His Deity is not dependent on my current situation. His Love is not dependant on my attitude! My blessings come when I accept His Deity and it's shown through my attitude!  Even on my worst days God is still God. He is still in control and He is Still on the throne.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." -Romans 8:28 (ESV)

If my trials work together for His Glory, my life is clay in the potters hands, I'm surrendered in my good and I'm surrendered in my bad, because really All I desire out of this life is for the Lord to be Shown Powerful and Glorified, no matter how it plays out in my life.

Matthew 6:23-34 (NIV)
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Miracles do still happen. Do you recognize when the Lord's providing? I want to hear way's He's miraculously worked (or is working) in your life.

A Call to Lead (Part 1) or an Intro

Everyone's a leader. Whether you choose to be or not. You're always leading.

I've been thinking about Joshua.
Follow me here for a little background:
  • God came to Abram (Abraham) (close to 800 yrs before Joshua), and told him he would be the father of many nations. Gen 12
  • Abraham had Isaac, Isaac had Jacob (& Esau), Jacob had the 12 sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Nephtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin.
    • The 12 sons later became the Patriarchs by which the 12 tribes of Judah were named.
  • Joseph by God's providence was sold to some Ishmalites. Gen. 37
  • The Lord's grace was upon Joseph and He bacame, many years later, second in command to the King Pharaoh, because he could interpret dreams.  He was able to tell Pharaoh that they were going to experience 7yrs of plenty and 7 yrs of famine. Gen. 41
  • After the brothers found Joseph they went back to tell their father, whose name was once Jacob-Now it's Israel, the Lord visited Israel and told him to take everything he had with all of his descendants into the land of Egypt and the Lord would preserve his family and decendants there. (Gen. 46)
  • Because the Famine was So great the Israelites had nothing left to buy food with. Out of Joseph's idea they sold themselves to Pharaoh to work the land so they could have food. (Gen. 47:13-26)
  • Thus, Israel is enslaved for the next 400-500yrs.
  • God called Moses, an Israelite adopted by Pharaoh's Daughter (an Egyptian), to lead the Israelites out of captivity. (Exodus 1-12)
  • The Israelites spent 40yrs in the desert - daily dependant on God's providing for survival.  Fed with Manna, Led by a cloud during the day and fire by night. That's kinda Awesome if you ask me. Saw the Red Sea and the Jordan River Parted to dry ground. Saw water pour from a rock.
  • Moses Died - Was not allowed to enter the promised land.
  • Enter Joshua... Joshua 1
