Cultural Christianity Wednesdays (Guest Post)

I am truly excited to announce Cultural Christianity Wednesdays!  Featuring a guest post each week, so that we can see a different and more rounded perspective of such an important topic.  I am also very excited to introduce:

You probably already know her :) She is absolutely precious! I Love hearing all that the Lord is doing in her life! She is a military stay a home mom of 2 sons 14 & 8 with an 21 year old that lives outside of the home. She has been happily married for almost 11 years. She says: "I love the Lord with all my heart and strive everyday to do more to serve Him with joy. I also enjoy sharing my walk in marriage, parenting, homemaking and now homeschooling with other moms that are striving with me to Become Strong Women of God. I have been blogging for alittle of a year. I got started to document my weight loss journey and within 2 months the Lord had other plans for me. It has turn into an online ministry in less then a year. I love that fact that I can teach women all over the world God's truth right from my computer." - You can probably see why I like her. ;)

Please Welcome Sonya Schroeder to Beautiful Mommy Feet!

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’

will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my
Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord,
Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your
name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare
to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of

lawlessness.’" (Mat 7:21-23)

Have you noticed more and more that the world is becoming more desensitized to what is going on in our world today? That are looking to whoever to see what a Christian looks like and not seeking scripture to see what God says?

Did you know that people attend churches just because it is the right thing to do? Thinking they are a Christian, when they really are not? Going through the motions of being a Christian, when in fact they have no idea what that truly means!

We say, "How can this be?"

I believe it to be because of "Culture Christianity vs "Biblical Christianity"! So many out there truly think they are Christian because they attend a church, said a little prayer one time in their life, got baptized. Not realizing that "those" things do not get you into Heaven, Jesus does (John 14:6) or MEAN a thing if they are not done in Faith in Jesus Christ.

Culture Christianity is someone that could have been raised in the Christian community but does not truly know what it means to follow Jesus Christ or take the walk seriously. They look to people who they think are Christian however do not truly know because they dont know Jesus. They call themselves "Christians", think because they said a little prayer, they are saved. Their life does not reflect Christ in scripture at all. The look just like everyone in the world.

Biblical Christianity is one that belongs to Christ and all that He stands for through the Word. We seek God in everything we do and seek answers through Him not the world. We know we are not perfect and will stumble however will rely on the Holy Spirit to direct us back on path. We know we will struggle with sin daily but as we rely on God we become more holier. We look nothing like the world, we stick out. We know without Him we are can do NOTHING.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)

I found this table from Oswald Chambers a great look at Culture Christianity vs Biblical Christianity.

Biblical Christianity

Only understood by those who are joined to Christ through the cross

Cultural Christianity

Believed by the masses to represent genuine Christianity
It is...
A personal relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ, based on faith. John 17:20-26; Rom 8:37-39
A religion based on humanist logic, "feel good" experiences, and popular interpretations of Scriptures.
Come to God through…
Faith in Jesus Christ Who has revealed Himself in His Word and by His Spirit. John 14:6
Faith that our own good works and intentions are good enough.
View the Bible as:

The
absolute, unchanging, Word of God. The Bible is inspired and guarded by
God --- including its honest reports about evil acts among God's

people. 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Peter 1:25
A collection of guidelines, allegories, myths, and stories useful for good living. Offensive verses must be ignored.
Our goal is...
God's approval. To know Him, do His will, follow His way, and live each moment in fellowship with Him -- by His wonderful grace! Gal 1:10
People's approval. To please, not offend, the world and its communities.Fun, feel-good fellowship.
Source of Strength
God’s unlimited grace and power. Gal 2:20; Philippians 4:19

Our human abilities -- plus God’s help when "needed."

See our human self as…

Weak and inadequate apart from Christ. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Strong and capable if we have confidence in Self.
See sin as...
Leading to spiritual bondage and death. Rom 6:23
A normal part of life. Ignore it, or you might offend someone. Or enjoy it, for "God understands" you needs and inclinations.
Deal with sin through...
Confession and faith: trusting Jesus as the "Lamb," our Savior who bore our sins on cross. Rom 6:1-6
Try to do better next time, or just tolerate it. Don't offend anyone by making them feel guilty.
Caring for people...
Bring people to Christ. Demonstrate God’s love. Trust God to meet needs by His Spirit working through our surrendered lives. Rom 12:9-18

Bring
people to the church or group. Don’t tolerate uncompromising Christians
who might offend people. Do to others as you would have others do to

you.
Response to suffering:

Trust God to use suffeering to deepen our faith and endurance, prepare us for ministry, and demonstrate His love and power. 2 Corinthians 1:3-11

Pray,
endure, and trust that God will help. It's okay to challenge God’s
love, power, and purpose -- and to seek quick relief through whatever

means available -- no matter how it conflicts with His Word.
Commitment:
Trust and follow God. No compromise. Rather die than betray our Lord. Rom 12:1-2
Trust and follow feelings and human logic. Compromise essential to avoid offending the world.
Expect to...
Faces rejection and persecution. John 15:20-21
Get along and influence the world.
Outreach:

Bring God's love and good news to the needy, then bring the needy to Jesus.

Adapt the church to the "community" so that everyone will feel at home.
Daily hope:

Eternity with Jesus, our Shepherd and sovereign King. 1 Peter 1:3-9

Success, acceptance of all people, fun and fellowship in this

Please do not think for one moment that because YOU think you are a good person, said a little prayer, go to church, got baptized...................

that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.

Until you have accepted Jesus through Faith, turned away from your sin and follow His ways all the days of your life until He comes for us,

you are NOT TRULY SAVED.

Dont get caught up in what the world is doing, get caught up in a personal relationship through Jesus Christ.

Seek Him and His ways to know the truth of how we are to live our lives,

NOT THIS WORLD.

Get prepared for what is too come, because if you are riding the coat tale of culture christianity you are headed down a road where the Lord will say the words "Depart from me, I never knew you".

Become grounded in Biblical Christianity and through Jesus Christ you will meet your Father when the time comes.

Also know that I am sharing my HEART with you because this is heavy on my heart the last few weeks. I like Jesus want EVERYONE to see Jesus oneday however I know that is just not possible because there will be ones that will just not accept His free gift or continue walking the same way as the world thinking they can still slide into Heaven because they are a good person and God would not send them to Hell.

Take these words very seriously, pray and ask the Lord to reveal to you if you are walking with Him with all of your heart or just by mind.
