Foster Mom

Welcome to Beautiful Mommy Feet!

I am the wife to a student minister. We have 2 small children Jaxson (4) and Paitlyn (2).  I began blogging about 6mos ago. It was an opportunity for me to write out what I am currently learning during my quiet time. That's still consistently what it is whether I'm learning via my children, through the Word or our Foster child. The Lord is always at work around us and speaks in many different ways to get our attention.

I knew the Lord was calling me into foster care 10years ago and it has been His guiding and me following. My husband and I had talked about it alot and he knew that this was definitely a direction the Lord was leading both of us 4yrs ago.

It has been an interesting journey getting to this place. Really interesting. I knew it was going to happen in God's perfect timing.  Before we even had all of our paper work completed in August we started getting phone calls to keep respite care.  On September 19th we were placed with our first Full-Time Foster Child.  It's a new challenge. Everyday is full of prayer because I do not have the wisdom to face this challenge in my own strength
If there is going to be an impact made on this child's life, I must surrender this child to God every day.  It's a big difference going from raising a 4yr old as the oldest to a 14yr old, but I'm not here for me, I'm doing it all for Him.

So glad you stopped by!  Hope to see you again soon. I would love to meet other parents in the middle of fostering.

  1. God has us on this journey as well. We are still in the waiting periods of adoption but we had to go through the training and classes in order to obtain our foster care license. It is not easy and I think you are AWESOME for living James 1:27 outloud..."taking care of the orphans." Giving a father to fatherless children is truly Biblical and selfless:)

  2. I really 'admire' you. God will lead you on path you'd never walks before. He shall teach you how to embrace kids with your heart. Whether they are four or fourteen ... you are doing it for Him. God bless you and your family!

  5. Praying for you this morning. I, too, am a new foster mommy. We received our first (2!) about 1 1/2 months ago. Did I mention I already have 2 biological children? What I'm learning through this journey, as you are, is that God will supply, He will be glorified if we allow Him to use us, and never have I ever been more dependent on Him. I have to pray daily for me to have His eyes, His heart, His wisdom, and then I thank Him for allowing me to be His hands and feet to these precious lives. Oh, what a joy to be a part of His story!

  7. It's great to find your blog. We were foster parents for eight years (and ended up adopting 3 of our foster kids as well as 2 of our kids internationally). Fostering is so hard, but so worthwhile. Now that we are no longer in it, we can really see what a ministry it was because we still have contact with quite a few of our former foster kids and their time with us really did make a difference, so I want to encourage you that it does matter!
